To know the Unió de Licoristes de Catalunya (ULC) you must first know the history of the spirituous liquor sector in Catalonia. It is a fact that in Catalonia the industry and trade of spirits has been closely linked to the economic and political history of the country. At the end of the 17th century, brandy became a product of production and consumption in Catalonia, among other things because it was the place with the best conditions. This liquor became an essential element of daily life and also one of the engines of economic growth and economic and political options. Brandy became the main Catalan export.
Given this, on March 10, 1932, the Union of Licoristes of Catalonia (ULC) was created originally with the name of the Union of Manufacturers and Exporters of Compound Spirits and Liqueurs of Catalonia, with headquarters in Fomento del Trabajo Nacional. It carried out its work until 1977, when it became the current Union of Licoristes of Catalonia under the presidency of Don Antoni Antich.
In its 80 years of life, the Unió de Licoristes de Catalunya has been responsible for representing, managing, defending and promoting the common professional interests of its members. It has contributed to promoting the responsible consumption of alcoholic beverages and has always defended all its members.
To be part of the ULC you only have to have a company that manufactures or distributes spirits within the territorial area of Catalonia.
