FAWEC (Farm Animal Welfare Education Centre) has been created by the Animal Nutrition and Welfare Service (SNiBA) of the Department of Animal and Food Science of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB).
The Center, whose visible faces are Xavier, Eva and Déborah, has as its main objective training in the welfare of production animals, through the periodic publication of technical sheets that summarize current knowledge in animal welfare and the organization of theoretical-practical courses of training on the welfare of dairy cattle and pigs.
FAWEC organizes training courses on animal welfare of farm animals for veterinarians. Two programs are offered: welfare in pigs and welfare in dairy cattle. Courses include lectures, group discussions and farm visits.
