MAY 2012 website: Mecenix

Have you ever heard of "crowdfunding”? It is a concept related to patrons.

The patrons were people who, with their political protection or with their contribution of materials, facilitated the development of Humanism. These people gathered classic works and called scholars who were knowledgeable about Greek and Roman literature, and if that were not enough, they welcomed them into their palaces. Among the most notable patrons are: the Medici family of Florence, Lorenzo de' Medici, called the Magnificent, and his brother Juliano de' Medici, the Roman pontiffs Julius II and Leo X, and Christina of Sweden.

Mecenix offers today's authors a space to publicize their finished works, so that potential readers are the ones who, at a fair price, finance the edition.

If the objective of an author is for his book to be read and that of a reader to acquire a book that interests him, Mecenix puts both in contact directly, without intermediaries and, therefore, without external benefits beyond those represented by the pure fabrication of the reading instrument that is the book.

Mecenix believes that all the benefit of publishing a work should fall to the person who makes the greatest effort: the author. The publishing prices are, therefore, the tightest on the market since the publisher complies with the strict margins of editorial production.
