Apple's growth in the United States, Europe and China during the Christmas period has been enormous. As of 2012, Android had more market share in the United States than iOS. However, currently iOS has once again become the leader despite the fact that the difference is only one tenth (47,7 – 47,6%).
Carolina Milanesi, head of research at Kantar Woldpanel ComTech, notes: "While the success of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus is unprecedented, this quarter's performance also points to Apple currently having the best product portfolio ever."
The gift par excellence last Christmas in the US has been the iPhone 6. The second position in the table is occupied by Samsung's new terminal, the Galaxy S5.
In Europe, Android's market share has decreased by almost 4 points (3,8) and the current percentage is 66,1%. Unlike iOS, which has increased its presence by 6,2 points.
In Great Britain iOS increased its share by 13,1 points and Samsung lost compared to the previous year and compared to the last quarter. Without a doubt, it has been on Europe's largest island where the variation in market share between the two powers that dominate the market has had the most impact. Only Android's share in the Italian market has grown.
The growth of iOS in Spain has also been important. The market share of the iPhone has grown, from one year to the next, more than six points. In the last quarter of 2013 it was 6,8% and in the last quarter of 2014 it was 12,9%.
Despite Apple's growth and the drop of 3,7 points compared to the previous year, Android maintains its supremacy in Spain with 83% of the market share. In third place is Windows Phone, with 3,8%.
