The computer giant Microsoft presented yesterday Windows Azure, a prototype operating system that aims to simplify the development of applications in the websites and whose commercial version will arrive from 2010.

The staging of Azure took place in Los Angeles within the framework of the Professional Developers Conference (PDC), which Microsoft organizes every year to publicize its progress in creating for mobile devices to report the.

"Today represents a milestone for Microsoft and the development community. We have introduced a series of unparalleled technologies that will give new opportunities to developers websites and business developers alike," said Ray Ozzie, head of the multinational's software creation area.

The new Windows platform will provide an operational base for the production of programs that offer services on the Internet that users will access directly through the websites, without the need to invest in new hardware.

Currently, Azure is in the testing phase and its use has been enabled for a certain number of computer scientists, in order to know their assessment of the system and make improvements before definitively launching it on the market.

Without going into details, Ozzie pointed out that Azure "will have a competitive price" that will adapt to the needs of its users and announced that during 2009 work will continue to get it ready.

"In the next 24 months we will continue receiving comments to make it a service that provides value," explained Luis Daniel Soto, executive director of New Technologies at Microsoft for Latin America.

In Soto's opinion, Azure will simplify the creation of applications that are currently possible, but complex.

"With this we enable software developers to reach a broader base of SMEs without having to make an investment in hardware, this facilitates pilot tests and there are benefits for all new players in this ecosystem," he noted.

Soto insisted that this platform will allow students, with the skills they learn in class, to create services that reach companies from all over the planet.

Azure was born with the idea of revolutionizing the world of applications and services in the websites, in order to automate relationships between companies and customers and increase connectivity.

"I hope that my devices know each other and I hope that if I take a photo with my cell phone, it appears instantly on my home computer," Soto exemplified.

Windows Azure will provide hosting, service management, scale storage, compute and networking, and will have core components Microsoft SQL Services, Microsoft.NET, Live

Services, as well as Microsoft SharePoint and Dynamics CRM Services.

The PDC 2008 started yesterday and will end next Thursday, October 30.
