Helping peasant women to market their products is the fundamental objective of Hamuk Projects.
His idea was born in 2015, by Paz Huergo who, after spending several months volunteering in Ecuador, took the step in 2017 to personally start this project in order to help these women from Ecuador who want to recover their traditional craft techniques in order to make them reach everyone and thus be able to increase their income and that of their family.
With the solidarity and commitment As fundamental points of Proyectos Hamuk, its initiative is to help all women have the same opportunities regardless of where they were born.
As for what difference Hamuk Projects From other similar ventures, the following stand out:
- Being a Spanish venture, its manager, Paz, knows very well the market it addresses as well as the needs and demands of the target audience, so that the designs and products can be adapted to make them more attractive.
- Paz's experience as a professional helps create a balance between social work and the business world. Sometimes, these types of projects focus a lot on social issues, which is why they do not end up being sustainable over time, nor are all objectives achieved.
- The fact that her manager has been a volunteer for 1 and a half years for a renowned NGO has helped her learn and understand much better how she should approach Project Hamuk so that it becomes a project with a viable plan, without loss of money. resources and that it was not only focused on donating money.
During this year, the objective is to continue establishing the project both in Spain and in Ecuador, reaching different stores where artisan products can be sold.
In Paz's own words: “Project Shamuk wants to go beyond mere material improvement, its final objective is to train women in rights, self-esteem, capabilities, etc. so that they become aware of the importance of their mission within the family and society, with the so that they can become citizens with the capacity to influence the policies and decisions that affect them.”
