Google creates a venture capital fund to invest in technology companies

The computer giant Google has announced the creation of a venture capital fund (Google Ventures) with the aim of investing in emerging technology companies.

This fund will seek to support companies in the fields of computing, biotechnology, medicine, clean technologies, etc.

"On an economic level, times are difficult, but good ideas arise at all times," they write in el blog of Google the directors of the fund, Rich Miner and Bill Maris. ">

"We think that the current recession is the ideal time to invest in emerging companies that, perhaps, will be the next giants. We are going to work hard to discover them," they add.

Regarding available capital, the new fund states: "We are able to invest amounts ranging from initial capital to tens of millions of dollars, depending on the stage of the opportunity and the company's need for capital. ".

The creators of Google Venture also assure that the creation of the fund is not a strategy to acquire companies in the future at better prices.
