Google creates a YouTube for schools

Google wants to prevent concerns about the content hosted by its video portal, YouTube, from pushing schools to prevent their students from accessing it. For this, he has created a school YouTube. As explained in the blog where the service is presented, it is unfortunate that to avoid student distraction, schools decide to close access to YouTube and with it access to thousands of videos of pedagogical content.
"Schools can customize the content that can be accessed. All schools can access all YouTube EDU content, but teachers and administrators can also access YouTube.com and create video playlists that "will be available" at the academic center, he explains. Teachers and school administrators can access YouTube.com and view videos, but students cannot access the site and can only view YouTube EDU videos and those added by their school. All comments and related videos are disabled, and the search is limited to YouTube EDU videos.

For this responsible and educational use of YouTube, schools have 300 lists of videos organized by subject. In the blog where the service is announced, the image of the teacher introducing a television into the class to be able to watch a video is recalled. Now, these videos can be viewed from the student's computer, limiting their choice and avoiding navigation through the general YouTube portal that distracts their attention. Google remembers that there are all kinds of videos on YouTube, but that preventing school access to it means missing out on the opportunity to watch one about photosynthesis or ancient Greece.

Schools must register with the service to create their own selection.
