IndianWebs attends the 20 keys to shield WordPress conference

Thanks to Jose Ramon Padron, General Director of SiteGround Spain, we at IndianWebs received an invitation to the breakfast/workshop "20 keys to shield WordPress” in its new offices in Madrid. Interesting technical breakfast attended by our webmaster Javier Saez. We were very lucky to be able to learn from Fernando Tellado.

This is SiteGround's first technical breakfast with  Fernando Tellado,WordPress brand ambassador, as speaker.

As you know, SiteGround is one of the most innovative hosting companies in the world. It is a pioneer in the adaptation to virtual platforms based on Linux containers, it supports more than 200.000 clients and 350.000 sites in the United States, Europe and Asia, the main markets, and since September it has also been in Spain.

It should be noted:

  • Change table prefixes
  • Change folder permissions
  • Permissions wp config .php to .htaccess change to 444
  • Config.php upload it to the top directory
  • Protect access to the /wpadmin folder
  • Install plugins like limit login (to stop brute force attacks)
  • Add a capcha to the login
  • Use SFTP instead of FTP
  • Protect folders with passwords using htpasswd
  • Override xml-rpc vulnerabilities by disabling it from wp-config.php
