The entertainment and media industry in Spain will grow an annual average of 5% until 2015, when the figure for this business is expected to reach 33.479 million dollars (24.079 million euros).
This is clear from the report “Global Entertainment and Media Outlook 2011-2015,” published today by the consulting firm PwC, which highlights that income derived from Internet access and “online” advertising will act as “the engine of the industry.”
Online advertising will have an average annual growth of 13% until 2015, when it is estimated that the business will amount to 1.939 million dollars (around 1.395 million euros).
For its part, the annual growth related to the network until 2015 will be 10%, year in which the business will reach 9.597 million dollars (6.900 million euros), driven by an increase in the penetration of internet access .
Among the sectors that will perform best is cinema, which will grow an average of 7,2% to 1.638 million dollars (1.177 million euros) in 2015 thanks, according to PwC, to the increase in the 3D film market and to the impetus of the Blu-Ray system.
It is followed by pay television (with an average annual growth of 6,1% to 3.578 million dollars -2.571 million euros-) in 2015, for which the consultancy predicts a “profound transformation” due to its connection with the grid.
And then, the video game sector, which will experience an increase of 5,9% (up to 1.716 million dollars, 1.232 million euros) until 2015, driven by broadband penetration, which will allow digital distribution to rise. of contents.
At the opposite extreme is the recording industry, which, according to PwC, will register an annual decrease of 5,6% and its turnover will be 201 million dollars (144,3 million euros) in 2015. The consulting firm points out that, in this case, digital distribution will predominate over physical distribution.
Regarding the publishing market, the consultancy assures that there will not be a sustained growth of the electronic book, as happens in other countries, since "there is still no clear model for publishers, which prevents" having a wide catalog already competitive prices". This sector will grow an annual average of 0,5% until 2015.
Regarding the press, the consultancy predicts a drop in circulation of copies of 1,6% in five years.
