WhatsApp has reached a record number. Recently, the instant messaging application has managed to send 1.000 billion messages a day through its service. Thanks to this new figure, WhatsApp takes another step to consolidate itself as one of the most popular mobile messaging services.

The instant messaging service has become one of the most used applications on smartphones and tablets. Available on all mobile platforms, WhatsApp has been a revolution in the world of telephony since it has managed to replace the famous SMS and MMS, because it allows you to send messages for free. Such has been its success that the company has reached 1.000 million daily messages sent through its application.

These 1.000 million messages can be translated into 41.666.667 messages per hour, 694.444 messages per minute or 11.574 per second, the company says on its official blog.

For its part, the WhatsApp team assures that reaching 1.000 billion is an “important milestone” and also a small step towards its goal, offering a great mobile messaging system for the global market, regardless of the device. “The loyalty and passion of consumers in our products makes us feel enormous gratitude. We really couldn't do it without you,” they conclude.

The WhatsApp messaging service was initially launched only for iOS mobile OS users. Given its success, platforms such as Android, BlackBerry and Symbian incorporated WhatsApp into their application store. The last to enjoy this application have been Windows Phone users.
