More and more people, instead of going to the sales and waiting in those endless lines, decide to make their purchases online. That convenience is highly appreciated by customers. In addition, to that comfort we must add the wide variety of offers, promotions and discounts available throughout the year. According to one of the studies carried out by the National Telecommunications Observatory, in 2013, six out of every ten Internet users used the Internet to buy.
It is true that there is still that fear when making payments over the Internet. Among all the concerns of users there are two very common ones, the fear that the product will not arrive and the confidentiality of our data. To avoid problems in the purchases we make online, ESADE Law School professor Sergio Llebaría has made a series of recommendations.
– Reliability of the page. The pages that guarantee that the operation has legal support are those of official brands.
– Identification of the seller. In case we have to make a claim and request a return, we must know who to contact.
– Simple payment methods. An unknown payment method or with conditions that are somewhat strange give rise to suspicion. The probability exists that you will not receive what you want and the loss of your money.
– The famous small print. On most occasions, we check the "I accept the purchase conditions" box involuntarily. This is due to haste and impatience. It is advisable to find out if the confidentiality of our data will be respected, the conditions of our shipping and if returns are accepted.
The most frequently repeated incidents are the lack of coincidence between what was ordered and what was received, receiving a damaged product or problems with the invoice.
The consumer has the right of withdrawal. That is, the purchase can be returned and its cost refunded without the need to give explanations during the 14 days after receiving our order. The only thing the company can require is the coverage of the shipment to the return location if it is made by courier or postal mail.
We can go to the offices of the Catalan Consumer Agency or the European Consumer Center in search of a solution if there is any type of conflict.
