YouTube influences young people more than television

The digital media Defy Media carried out research on the channels that most influence purchasing decisions. To do this, they consulted more than a thousand people between the ages of 13 and 24. 

The question they asked the respondents was the following: "What influences you more, a television advertisement or an Internet advertisement?" Not only did they lean towards the second but many emphasized and underlined the YouTube platform, something that shows its potential. Depending on the ages, the percentages vary but it is true that very slightly. Among 13-year-olds, 62% opt for YouTube and 43% for television. The difference with respect to adolescents between 14 and 17 years old is very little since 63% once again opt for YouTube and 47% for television. In addition, YouTube also surpasses television among 18- and 24-year-olds with 62% and 49% respectively.

These results may surprise but the reality is that there are several YouTube channels that have seen an increase in the number of visits in recent months. This may be because most of the content published is aimed at younger people.

So now it's up to brands and advertisers to take note and get to work. This study shows that the best way to attract young consumers is through these platforms. Perhaps in a short time this trend will change but, today, there is a large number of potential clients on YouTube.
