Efadós, transcription of the letter F and the number 2 in Catalan, is a publishing house very committed to a cause: recovering and promoting culture and history, that is, striking a blow against oblivion. How I like to delight in your photography books! For example, go back 25 years and mentally travel to Ukraine. And place ourselves in Chernobyl. Igor Kostin, a Moldovan reporter, went there with the sole purpose of photographing the reality of the nuclear power plant explosion.
Or the book Barcelona Panorámica, with texts by Lluís Permanyer. In it we can see 90 postcards of Barcelona, 30 of which are unpublished panoramic views, taken between 1905 and 1930, from the perspective of Àngel Toldrà Viazo, a Barcelonan who was a true giant in the specialty of photographic postcards. You can see the Sagrada Familia, planted in a desert, the Plaza de España, without the Fira de Barcelona complex, or the Plaza de Catalunya, without the current commercial buildings, reproduced on 0,85 meter folding sheets.
It is through the details and stories that live in everyday life, collected in texts and captivating images, that we can best understand people. Efadós places us close to a past that was not always better, but that we should never forget.
