6 out of 10 people abandon online purchases due to shipping costs

E-Commerce is a growing purchasing method. Sellers are aware of the importance of this and do not hesitate to play their cards within that field. However, we cannot always succeed with the first deal of cards. What's more, it is not always enough to have good cards that combine well with each other since there are many factors that intervene in the purchasing process and are decisive. We would be lying if we didn't say that it is one of the reasons why we decided to dump the virtual shopping carts and forget about what we had inside a few seconds ago.

As a study carried out by eMarketer reveals, out of every ten users, six abandon the purchasing process due to shipping costs. Simply because the cost of getting that product into your hands makes it completely out of budget.

People who buy online prefer a movement of days than of wallets or booklets, that is, they are willing to wait an average of seven days from the time the shipment is made if that means savings on shipping costs. In addition, this study also revealed that many online buyers opted for slower shipping methods since these had zero cost.

The importance of this aspect is such that for many consumers this factor can be differential when classifying a purchasing experience, this being very positive if facilities are offered to the customer in terms of shipping costs. In the last year, several American retailers have worked hard on this aspect and have stated that it has been one of the most successful strategies they have carried out.
