Tips to avoid duplicate content on your website

Many times we create a website and, no matter how many plugins we add, the SEO of the website does not improve significantly. The main problem is usually duplicate content, which is also very common on websites created using WordPress.

Having more than one page on our website that talks about the same thing is very common in WordPress, because every time we add content, the CMS generates a number of URLS automatically.

These pages that share the same content are usually categories and tags, categories and author, the home page with the monthly files and the entries that have paginated comments.

And the million dollar question is, how do I prevent this duplicate content from occurring? Here are some tips to try to solve it:

1.- Create a guide of labels that differ from each other and use it before labeling a post. This will help us maintain consistency in them.

2.- In order to increase the visibility of the website, it is advisable to constantly update the categories and tags.

3.- Enter a single tag in each post.

4.- It is also important to use a canonical URL so that only one page is the main page as a reference. In our case, this means that we have to configure the addresses http://indianwebs.com and http://www.indianwebs.com so that they are considered the same web page.

5.- We can use an external CSS file trying to use the predefined styles or, in order to save loading time, write in the HTML tab the styles that we have previously chosen in the CSS.

6.- In the event that we have more than one author who remains active, we must configure indexing for all of them.
