The prestigious Forbes magazine has detailed the qualities that all people who succeed in their respective fields have in common; the keys to success. After interviewing more than 1.200 managers, celebrities, politicians, writers... these are their conclusions:
1- Know when to be and when to leave a place.
The photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson talked about the decisive moment when shooting. The right moment. Leo Messi, when he plays football, moves in space and time at the key moment. Those who succeed master the tempo perfectly. They know the exact moment when a change of scenery is necessary; start a business or expand staff. Their arm doesn't shake when it comes to making decisions. They have a special intuition for it.
2- They do more than what is asked of them.
Your job requirements are just the beginning. A base to start working. Once they meet them, they will do more than what is required of them and will try to get involved in more projects and seek new challenges. Beyond that, they will even accept tasks that others would not want in order to be part of the team.
3- They are willing to fail at the beginning, if they advance.
As the saying goes, it doesn't matter how many times you fall, but how many times you get up. Those who have gone far have first failed, and they are willing to do so. It is a risk that must be taken and something that is learned from. You learn from every mistake and in the future that will make you better. The differential value is resilience. The difference is that where others would drown and give up, they keep going.
4- Luck depends on them.
They say that luck is a matter of talent. They are clear about it and chance has little to do with their path. Luck, in most cases, depends on how hard one works. Nothing is free. Every day we have to do something so that everything is arranged the way we want.
5- Real goals.
Many people get frustrated because they are not realistic when it comes to setting their own goals. Unattainable goals are set. Successful people know where their limits are and set reasonable goals. Furthermore, behind their daily lives there is a plan with everything they have to do. They will look for things that enhance their abilities and avoid those that show their weaknesses.
6- They are responsible for their actions.

8- They adapt to changes.
If necessary they reinvent themselves. They are not framed within certain canons, they adapt to maintain their position. If you don't evolve and stay stuck in a specific moment, you will be out of the game. In addition, they anticipate changes and try to know where the shots will go.
9- Great communication skills.
They convey what they do and how they do it concisely and effectively. In addition to being a genius, you have to know how to express yourself and communicate your ideas clearly. If the message does not reach others or arrives distorted, it is of no use. They are aware of what they do, how they do it and others believe in them. They have personality and a great capacity for persuasion and seduction.
10- They know what and who to ask.
When they have a problem or doubt, they know who to ask and who to ask for advice. When you don't know, it is better to be humble and ask than to venture and make a mistake. They know what the right question is. Furthermore, they do not hesitate to help others, when it is within their reach.
11- They never stop learning.
Learning does not end when you leave university or graduate with postgraduate degrees, etc. It is a constant in the lives of those who succeed and are not afraid to try new experiences from which they can draw lessons.
12- They know who they are and what their place is.
You not only have to have the ability to lead a team. Leadership begins with oneself and knowing what place to occupy. They will not persist in doing things that they cannot do or that do not satisfy them. They know what they are good at and will focus their energies on that.
13- The important thing is the path, not just the goal.
