Last November, José Manuel Soria, current Minister of Industry, Energy and Tourism, presented the ".es" awards to the best websites in this country. The awards went to El Tenedor, Doctors Without Borders, ING Direct, the Royal Spanish Academy of Language and Imaginarium. This recognition has been around for a quarter of a century and every year almost two million records that exist in Spain compete.
The minister himself said that ".es" domains were helping economic recovery since these websites demonstrate the talent, creativity and professionalism of many companies and entrepreneurial people. In addition, he commented that this growth is serving to attract investors and that it is modifying and transforming the Spanish digital landscape in a dizzying manner towards a friendlier environment.
